- How easy is it to use OnCallData?
The OnCallData service is extremely intuitive and user-friendly. The service is available on any web-capable device, including cell phones, wireless PDAs, and desktop PCs.
- How does it work on my PC?
You would simply access the OnCallData™ web site, www.oncalldata.com, and then follow the prompts.
- Is there more work for my staff?
No. Current users are saving upwards of 10 minutes per prescription, and some offices are saving 2-6 hours per day!
- Can I use the phone for regular calling and other web access?
Of course. It is a mobile phone first, but it now offers extended services. Ask Verizon Wireless or your other wireless provider about other portal services such as stock quotes, sports, news, and weather reports.
- Are there any restrictions to using OnCallData™ ?
The current partners with OnCallData include Verizon Wireless, Giant Pharmacy, and a national clinical reference laboratory. Others will soon follow. However, you may still access OnCallData via a non-Verizon Wireless Web-enabled phone and service when signing up, and soon OnCallData will be expanding to major national pharmacy chains, hospital chains, and other reference laboratories.
- Can OnCallData™ be accessed and submitted via a web site or PDA?
You or your staff can access and use OnCallData from your PC, laptop, or handheld computer, as long as it has the ability to connect to the Internet.
- Can I use this service with web-enabled phones from any wireless service provider?
Yes, by bookmarking the OnCallData web site on your phone, you can access the site. Instructions on how to bookmark can be obtained from OnCallData’s Technical Support Center at 800-576-0526.
- Can my nurse or assistant use the service on my behalf?
With your permission, yes.
- How secure is the service in terms of patient-data privacy?
All data is 128-bit SSL encrypted, and the web site is secure. Patient data will not be revealed.
- How does the prescription get transmitted to the pharmacy?
Prescriptions are transmitted to the desired pharmacy (OnCallData has over 72,000 pharmacies in it's database) electronically or via fax. Physicians and their staff no longer have to be on the phone with the pharmacy, or feed their office fax machines since OnCallData handles this for you.
- Are there restrictions on the drugs I wish to prescribe?
Yes, as always, schedule II narcotics cannot be prescribed electronically or by fax. For your convenience, we will furnish you with a sample of drugs within your specialty that your colleagues have chosen for their own profiles. This list changes periodically as new drugs are introduced by your colleagues. You may add any drug you wish, even if not shown. Note that OnCallData makes no recommendations for pharmaceuticals or biologics whatsoever.
